Surprisingly good unit for my Ford

1

I installed this Android 10 Head Unit 7″ Double Din head unit in a 2005 Ford Ranger. The install wasn’t bad but I did have to cut out more of my dash. I had previously cut out some for the deck that was in here before. Not a big deal but worth noting. That could be just because my truck is old too. Hahaha.

As for the unit itself, everything is great. It’s very responsive. I’ve seen some reviews of people saying they’re responsive but the video suggests otherwise. This one is very snappy with that new p6 CPU.

AM/FM works great. I use Spotify premium and download my music so I always have it. That also works flawlessly so far. I’ve also downloaded a large area around me in Google maps, though I do usually use my phone as a Hotspot.

Torque connects quickly and works well with my obd2 connection. I do see there is a review talking about this not working. It’s possible I just happen to have the right type of OBD2 connector. I know there are some that say they may not work with Android head units.

I also ran all 3 USB connections out under my dash. It does run my charger and my dashcam with no issues.

So far, after about a week I’m VERY happy with my purchase. I was worried as there was only one review in here at the time with no written reviews.

Now for the bad stuff.

There isn’t really anything bad, just different.

My biggest complaint/wish is that the music controls could be kept on the screen always. If I have torque up, I have to switch apps back to Spotify or the radio to change anything. With Google maps and Waze, they do have a Spotify interface which helps a bit.

My other gripe is that you can’t seem to adjust the widgets on the home page. It has the clock and radio controls which are nice but I can’t move them or even put the Spotify widget on the unit. It’s not a huge deal and it just takes a minute to get used to.

Overall, I would absolutely buy this again. I’d recommend this to anyone who is looking for an android deck.

Pumpkin 7 inch Octa-Core Double Din Android 10 Head Unit

This is the Pumpkin 7″ Android Car Interface, a device that you can push straight in to your cars head unit, replacing your current car stereo.

Lets check out it’s sepcification:

It comes with Android 10, this is great as you can use Android Auto and any of the latest apps available on the Google Play/Marketplace. It is Octa-Core with 4gb of ram. Inbuilt memory is 64gb. It’s touch screen, had adjustable colour settings and you can tune in to UK radio stations as well.

As well as it’s specs, there are a few things that are inbuilt and these features seem to be mainstay on these devices and this is no different.

Mirror-link you can watch what is on the Pumpkin device on your smart phones, either via wifi or usb mirror. With usb connection you can control the Pumpkin but on the wifi connection you can only watch what it is showing.

GPS which is inbuilt, so you can use online maps like iGo, Google, Copilot, etc and it gives voice guidance, this also depends on the application you use for your maps as they all differ a little.

AV Output means you can link to other displays or tablets that you can put on your headrests for the rear passengers, we didn’t test this but it’s a good feature if you have a family car.

USB/SD storage so you can add your biggest collection of music, movies, audio books, extra maps and much more.

DAB+ radio, as well as FM/AM, you can connect to your favourite digital radio station, like BBC Radio 6 in the UK which is digital only.

OBD2 means that you don’t need a car diagnostic tool, you can solve some errors using this device

WIFI/3G support, as it’s an android device means you can connect to local network or even wifi connections.

Cam-In allows you to link a camera, for the front or rear of your car to help with parking.

There it is, the full ‘plug n play’ set up that you get when you purchase the device. Make sure you check the size of the available space in your cars head unit/dash area to make sure this fits. With the device you get instructions on how it all works and fits together.

Great radio- gives a different look for my car

Great car stereo transformed my 2009 Honda Fit into 2020. Latest Android 10 is key and installation was easy. Highly recommend. The level of customization one has with tons of apps compared to other more expensive brands that have limited connectivity makes this a worth buy for 2020 and beyond. Great customer service as well.

The screen is vibrant with minimum reflection, installed Sygic maps that are direct and are turn by turn real time, I can hot spot phone and get real time updates. The head unit is super versatile and astatically gorgeous. I had a small user error and support was supportive communicative and awesome!! love the company and product. Installed in my cts coupe as a floating display…

Everything worked as advertised. This monitor is huge which makes YouTube videos pop! I recommend this to anybody who wants a solid android system!
