Pumpkin 2GB RAM Android 4.4.4 Autoradio



Dieses Radio ist bis auf wenige Dinge (+CD/DVD Laufwerk und nur 6,2″ 800×480 statt 7″ 1024×600 Display) baugleich zum RQ0270E von PUMPKIN, doch da es nicht das tiefer gesetzte Display hat und gleichviel kostet würde ich empfehlen das etwas kleiner Display in Kauf zu nehmen und dafür ein Laufwerk und den besseren Bedienkomfort zu haben.


Dank dem verbauten QuadCore ist die Bedienung sehr angenehm mit schneller Reaktion möglich. Die Besonderheit an diesem Android-Radio ist der QuadCore CPU mit 2GB RAM welchen man im normalen Betrieb (Navi, Radio oder MediaPlayer) kaum bemerkt. Allerdings wer plant Facebook oder einen Browser mit mehren Tabs zu nutzen, der wird recht schnell den Nutzen erkennen.
Aktuell ist auf diesem Gerät Android 4.4.4 installiert, doch ich bin mir sicher PUMPKIN wird hier bald ein Update auf Android 5.1 liefern (wie sie es gerade bei vielen anderen Geräten machen). Doch dies ist mir nicht wichtig, denn im Auto sehe ich durch ein Update keinen Vorteil.


Radioempfang macht einen recht guten Eindruck und kann mit dem zuvor verbauten Werksradio mithalten.


Freisprechen klappt gut, allerdings sollte unbedingt das mitgelieferte externe Mikrofon verbaut werden. Sobald die Nebengeräusche zu laut werden (schnelleres fahren) ist man recht schlecht zu verstehen, doch ich kenne keine Nachrüstlösung die es besser schafft.


Navi ist beeindruckend genau und Google Maps ist bereits vorinstalliert, hierfür ist allerdings eine Internetverbindung nötig. Doch inzwischen gibt es auch kostenlose offline Alternativen (MapFactor oder Navigon per Amazon).


Der MediaPlayer ist recht gut, spielt alles ab und alle nötigen Einstellungsmöglichkeiten sind vorhanden. Optisch würde mir etwas weniger mehr gefallen, doch ich bin zufrieden.


Apps nachinstallieren klappte mit allen gewünschten Programmen (Zattoo, Amazon Music, TuneIN und Co) problemlos.
Internet ist in meinen Augen für so ein Gerät unbedingt notwendig, da es die Möglichkeit unschlagbar erweitert. Bei mir habe ich es mit einem kleinen Router von Huawei (E8372) umgesetzt, dieser hat keinen Akku und geht somit mit dem Radio an und aus, dank eBay aus dem Ausland auch recht günstig zu bekommen.


Stromverbrauch: Habe vor dem Einbau zur Sicherheit den Stromverbrauch im Betrieb und StandBy gemessen um nicht eine leeren Batterie zu riskieren. Ergebnis ist recht gut (geht besser, dennoch bedenkenlos), im Betrieb ohne Ton sind es ca. 1,2 Ah und im StandBy (ca. 10 min. nach Zündung aus, nicht zu ändern) sind es zwischen 0,02 und 0,03 Ah, was pro Woche etwa 5 Ampere sind und somit eine gute Batterie auch nicht während zwei/drei Wochen stehen völlig leer macht. Allerdings sollte man bei einem reinen Kurzstreckenfahrzeug im Winter vielleicht doch mal die Batterie laden um auf Nummer sicher zu gehn.


Fazit: Bin absolut von Android-Radios überzeugt und kann es jedem empfehlen der mehr als nur Musik von USB hören möchte. Dieses Gerät ist sehr schnell und auch für Ressourcen-schluckende Apps geeignet. Einzig der fehlende DAB+ Erweiterungsanschluss fehlt mir.

Geniales hochwertig aussehendes Radio.
Habe das Radio in einen VW Golf Plus Bj. 2012 über den mitgelieferten CAN Bus und Antennen Adapter angeschlossen.
Der Radioempfang ist sehr gut und die Sender bleiben auch dauerhaft gespeichert.
Für das Navi habe ich einen zusätzlichen Adaper gekauf um die vorhandene Dachantenne weiter zu verwenden.
Auf dem Gerät laufen Google Maps (online) und Navigon (offline) problemlos.
Die Freisprecheinrichtung über das interne Micro ist gerade so akzeptabel, das externe hat nicht funktioniert.
Rückfahrsensor, Klima und Sitzheizung u.a. werden auch angezeigt.
Die Lenkradfernbedienung funktioniert ebenfalls.
Ich habe es nicht bereut das Radio gekauft zu haben

Ich habe dieses PUMPKIN 2 Din Autoradio Android 5.1 Quad Core… Gerät in mein Octavia verbaut und muss euch sagen ich bin begeistert.
Der Einbau ist problemlos mit etwas Fummelei verbunden aber selbst erklärend. Das hochfahren der Software dauert einwenig aber das ist kein Problem. Man Kann APPs drauf spielen wie Navigon so das man nicht immer Online sein muss. Es wird alles erkannt was vorher auch angezeigt wurde. Habe auch gleich eine DAB+ Antenne mit verbaut und war über die Hörqualität sehr begeistert. Mann bekommt bestimmt noch bessere Festeinbau Navis die kosten aber bestimmt auch viel mehr. Für kleines Geld bekommt man sehr viel geboten.

Also jeder ser aich diesen Naviceiver kauft sollte wissen, dass ea sich um ein Chinagerät handelt. Allerdings ist eben nicht alles schlecht was aus China kommt. Ich bin von der Verarbeitung und Passgenauigkeit echt positiv überrascht. Es paßt perfekt in meinen Golf V Variant und der Einbau war dank passender Stecker und Canbus ein Kinderspiel. Zur Software ist nicht viel zu sagen….. ist eben Android. Da ich bei Handy und Tablet eh seit Jahren auf dieser Plattform unterwegs bin, bin ich darüber glücklich. Es ist fast alles möglich wenn man sich etwas mit Android auskennt und selbst wenn man Neuling ist wird man seine Freude an dem Gerät haben.


Radioempfang ist Spitze
Navi funktioniert trotz verbauter GPS Maus im Handschuhfach ohne Aussetzer.


Also ich kann das Gerät jeden empfehlen

This is my third Pumpkin head unit that I have installed on my vehicles. I am very impressed with Pumpkin‘s customer service and the quality of their products. My emails were answered within the same or next day business day and the customer service was very helpful and polite. I will continue to support and purchase products from Pumpkin in the future.


As of this unit I’ll go over my opinions on the pros and cons.


Pros:
1. The boot speed is around 5-10 seconds which is lightning fast when it comes to an android unit.
2. The Pumpkin/Android OS is very easy to navigate and understand from all levels of users. its simple and clean but can also be customized to fit the more advanced user.
3. The audio quality is excellent. I have a 2007 Hummer H3 with the Monsoon system which alone is pretty impressive for a “factory” setup. With this head unit though it boosted the volume and clarity of both the on air radio and streaming music/downloaded mp3 library.
4. The screen is very bright (can be dimmed) and is very clear. I have watched movies on it from Netflix, Kodi, YouTube, ect. ranging from full HD1080p to 480.
5. As I just mentioned, I am more of an advanced user when it comes to the apps I use. I have yet to find a streaming/media app that did not work or function properly. Since this unit has android 6.0 Marshmallow Kodi works perfectly. I have installed Kodi on the 4.4 KitKat Pumpkin unit and it did work put had some issues getting to stream movies. I use Pandora to stream most of my audio but built in radio app works perfectly.
6. The design if very clean and low profile. The touch screen is very responsive and even with the lack of buttons the menu bar on the left side of the unit works flawlessly (side menu is illuminated red when the car lights are on).
7. Easy to wire and install. The installation took me around 2-3 hours. Since I had already installed a Pumpkin head unit my backup cam and GPS dongle were already there. The wiring if fairly straight forward just matching wire to wire and is modular to what options/extra peripherals (TV’s/monitors/cameras) you have. I also have a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter to monitor the vehicles performance using the Torque Pro app. (I highly recommend getting this). It tells you lots of helpful information plus if you have any fault codes it will show you what the problems are. The unit is also very light. It does not have that cheap feel because its light. They use an aluminum heatsink in the rear of the unit which drops a ton of weight. This part goes to the people who have installed double din units in the past, the heavier is definitely more of a pain especially for those rare occasion you have to let the unit dangle by the wires because your hands are full
8. It has a pretty decent storage capacity (hard drive space) for apps (2 gb) with built in 16 gb of Nand memory (storage for files and mp3’s). It also has up to 64 gb of expandable memory through USB. I am using a 10 gb SD card through USB and it is more than enough.
9. The in-call hands free Bluetooth audio is clear and loud. The menu to adjust the volume promptly opens when a call is received. The mic is built in the unit, which is clear and works great. I have used Googles “Ok Google” while driving and the mic picks my voice up clearly and precisely


OK, so on to the Cons. Which being fair I don’t believe any product is perfect and won’t suit the needs of every user.


1. This unit does not have a DVD player. 
2. As I mention in the pro’s section, out of the box the OS is very clean, but it is also pretty basic. 
3. Ok, this might not really be a CON for most people including myself but this unit has no buttons. 




All in all this is a great unit. There is probably more PRO’s and CON’s I’m missing but I wanted to hit a few of the common questions. I would highly recommend it for anybody looking to upgrade or switch to android. Again with the quality and performance I would doubt you would find much better.
