This thing is amazing. There is so much more you can do. There are some minor issues that can be resolved with a little perseverance.

Pros:

  • WiFi Tethering: This unit connects up fine to my cellphone and tethers perfectly, everytime, without fail.
  • Bluetooth: While the head unit is connected to cellphone’s WiFi tether, it’s also able to connect to both my cellphone’s Bluetooth for audio and cell, as well as my Bluetooth OBDII unit which I use with the provided torque app.
  • Play Store: All apps work and I have not had any issues at all.
  • Radio: Signal in my part of the USA is fantastic. Sound is strong, and very little “hiss” for weaker stations.
  • DVD Player: Mine worked when tested, but I don’t use it, so I can’t comment extensively.
  • USB: I connected a 64 bit USB thumb drive and it has not given any issues.
  • 3G Dongle: I haven’t used this, but from reading at XDA forums, there are some issues with powering the device. A powered USB hub fixes this issue.
  • GPS: iGo app is not my favorite, so I simply downloaded Waze, and changed the setting in the GPS settings of Android to use the Waze app when Navigation button is pressed. You can do this with any GPS app, such as Google maps, which worked perfectly well with the satellite view as well.

Cons:

  • Tuner: Looses presets occasionally. Not sure why yet. It’s not a big issue for me.
  • Random: When I use certain apps, and don’t close them before I turn off the car, they force close when the head unit restarts. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of.
  • Fitment: Unit is about 1/4″ wider than USA standard double din head unit. You’ll need to trim the bezel on your car to fit. If you don’t want to do this, then this unit is not good for you.

In Summary

I have waited a long time for a head unit that could do everything I wanted it to do without issues. This unit does them all, with only very minor issues. All of which I feel will be resolved with future firmware and ROM releases. The manufacturers are constantly releasing updates and fixes, and are very hands on in the development and support. I highly recommend it !

DB1R3Z`D$X_89`$6Z4P]A(9

    Key Features

  • Android 4.4 Kitkat OS

  • Support both 3G and Wifi
  • Support Bluetooth
  • Support 7 Color Button Indicator
  • Support 1080p Video
  • Support DVR, Reversing camera

I’ll give a review of Pumpkin JY-C0662T. The unit has a 6.2″ capacitive touch screen and is flanked by buttons on the two side. The buttons are pretty well laid out and are easily accessible.

Radio: This tuner sounds just as good if not better than my stock Toyota radio. There are your basic auto-scan (Scan) and preset buttons for the radio stations. There is a band button (on-screen) that chooses between AM, FM and RDS.

CD/DVD: There’s a slide in slot atop the radio for CD/DVD discs. Works as expected when you insert a CD it launches the CD player and plays the music. Basic seek and skip functionality is available and it also supports DVD video playback.

Navigation: The unit comes with GPS, and it functions much as you would expect. You plug in an address and it navigates a route there. You can also use Google Maps / Nav, which works but does require a data connection as the maps and routing are not done on the device, but rather online.

Wifi/ 3G data: There is a Wifi/ 3G cable that supports wifi (built-in) or 3G dongle (extra) to support data capabilities. If you have a phone that supports tethering, you can use it as your wifi data source.

Pandora & Google Apps: Because this is a true Android car head unit, it supports Pandora, Spotify and Google Music, and many other popular Google apps from the play store.

Bluetooth Phone & Audio: You can pair the stereo with your bluetooth phone or audio device, once paired you can do the following: Dial out and receive calls hands-free via the Mic. Your phone contacts can be downloaded into the unit.

FAQ for Pumpkin Car Stereo KD-C0223/KD-C0224 (2)

It's only fair to share...Share on FacebookShare on LinkedInPin on PinterestShare on RedditShare on TumblrShare on StumbleUponDigg thisShare on VK

Q7 : Why the OBDII scanner can’t be paired ? Or why can’t I read the information after pairing ?

A : Firstly, please check if your OBDII scanner has a 4 digital Bluetooth pairing code.

Secondly, go to the Bluetooth application of the radio, and set the pairing code of the radio to the same one as the OBDII scanner.

Thirdly, open the Torque application, choose the OBDII scanner MAC address in the application setting. Below is a demo video to show you the operation:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwFJx0V84VM

Lastly, if the connection is working well, but not able to read your car MCU information, then it maybe the OBDII scanner is not compatible with your car, you may need to find another one.

Q8 : Why can’t I search the radio stations ?

A : First, please check if you have plugged the original car radio antenna connector to the radio antenna port from the radio tightly.

Secondly, if connected well, please check if your car is in an area with good radio reception.

Thirdly, please turn off the AF option on the radio menu to search the radio stations.

Lastly, you could get a radio antenna booster to connect between the radio and the original car radio antenna plug. And please power the booster from the ANT-CON wire or the red ACC wire.

Q9 : Why can’t I install the new car stereo ? ( the plug doesn’t fit or the size is different from the original one)

A : Sorry about this! But we have already listed the measurement data of the radio in our description, so that clients can check before purchasing. And as you can see, the radio is a 2 din universal device with universal ISO cable harness. It will not fit all cars, some cars have an original cable harness instead of universal ISO connectors. For these cars, you may need modify the wiring or buy an ISO to special cable harness adapter to install the radio. Please tell us your car information, and take photos to show us your original car connectors. We will check if we have this wire adapter for you.
